High Grass Notice

Notice to Abate High Grass

June 1st through September 30th

City of Veneta Municipal Code, Chapter 8.05, Section 8.05.060 (3) requires that between June 1 and September 30 of any year, no owner or person in charge of property shall allow noxious vegetation to be on the property or in the right-of-way of a public thoroughfare abutting the property. An owner or person in charge of property shall cut down or destroy grass, shrubbery, brush, bushes, weeds, or other noxious vegetation as often as needed to prevent them from becoming unsightly, from becoming a fire hazard, or in the case of weeds or other noxious vegetation, from maturing or from going to seed.

The City is willing to abate the nuisance on a particular parcel of property at the request of the owner or person in charge of the property for a fee sufficient to cover the City's abatement costs. If no such request is made the City intends to abate all such nuisances 10 or more days after the final publication of this notice and to charge the cost of doing so to the owner or the person in charge of the property, or the property itself.

Persons failing to abate a nuisance may also be subject to citation and fines through Veneta Municipal Court. Each day's violation constitutes a separate offense. No separate notification is required.
