The Tree City USA program has been greening up cities and towns across America since 1976. It is a nationwide movement that provides the framework necessary for communities to manage and expand their public trees.
More than 3,400 communities have made the commitment to becoming Tree City USA. They have achieved Tree City USA status by meeting four core standards of sound urban forestry management: maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry, and celebrating Arbor Day.
The City of Veneta has been a Tree City since 2008. The Veneta Park Board serves as the City's Tree Board and is instrumental in planning all the Arbor Day and tree planting events for the City. The Veneta Tree City USA program is supported by the Oregon Department of Forestry and the Arbor Day Foundation.
In order to enhance our City with more green space and trees, the City offers a Tree Reimbursement Program. Property owners are eligible to receive up to $100 reimbursement, per year, for planting replacement trees that have been removed with an approved Tree Permit.
